UNKNOWN PROPHETS: the road less travelled Reviewer: Larry Umphrey These guys do something that hasn't been done in a long while...they made a hip-hop album with meaning. No guns, no bitches, no gangs, no drugs. Just an outstanding album front to back, inside and out. The production is fantastic, the artwork is beautiful. This should be in your stereo, ipod, or mp3 player for years to come.
Kooke Burbs 2 Da Block Reviewer: Steven Gleason First off I am usually not a fan of local rap, but this is an exception. In fact im not even the biggest rap fan, but this CD has converted me into one. It's nice to have someone who has the same type of background as myself, easy to relate with. Thanks for those songs, big inspiration!
Purest Form: The Perfect Balance Reviewer: Selena It's about time that someone has taken hip hop back to the way it used to be! Refreshin mind blowin lyrics to stimulate your thought process is what this cd contains! I'm back after listening to the cd in depth and I just have to write another review to put my thoughts out there! First off 'My Spirit' is my theme song! This song is deep and keeps me going I HAVE to hear it at least once a day!! Every song on the album is HOTTTTTT! Shot out to Alabi on 'White Lies' that song is deep and mind bogglin - I guess what you don't know CAN hurt you - right? A-Quil is rockin on 'Verbal Virus' and spittin his lyrical genius on 'Life Sacrifices'! A-Ron keeps the cd hype with 'Emit' and 'Knuckle Up'. Dialek is hot! Like I said... 'My Spirit' is the ultimate lyrically and provides me with major motivation!! He's also doin it to the limit on 'Get Live'! I am truly lovin this CD - It's about time someone took hip hop back to where it belongs!! Keep it comin fellows! GREAT JOB!
The C.O.R.E. Metropolis Reviewer: Jenna AKA MC holocaust Put down those 2Pac CDs and back away slowly... I seriously do not know how I lived without this album. I've only had it one day but it's blew my head straight back. This IS Hip-Hop, beyond ridiculous beef and 'socially aware' rappers that come off sounding self-righteous. These cats know the score - why are they not signed to a major label?? 'Metropolis' is a mish-mash of socially conscious tributes to the city, mixed with hardcore party joints - straight rhymes. Be prepared to rewind each track several times so you can actually comprehend what these guys are on. I will be checking these guys other music, I'd be mad not to.
DIALEK: Post traumatic stress syndrome Reviewer: Lemme Dialek is truly wise beyond his years and this cd says it all. He is flowin on what it takes some people a lifetime to know. My favorites are My Throne and The Confession. My Throne says it all though, and I mean literally sends chills down your spine. Keep up the good work Dialek, you're the greatest!
Monk: Writer's Block Reviewer: GEM This being Monk's 3rd album he HAS perfected his style... definitely a Midwest flava this album is off the chain... being from the Midwest I could identify with a lot of the content in his music.... he has all the true elements of a versatile artist... very political reminding me of Talib and Mos Def
humorous like Ludacris and Eminem, and always uses clever word play like 2Pac and Nas.... a lyrical genius.... he could be the next King of Hip Hop.... I love this guy.
UNKNOWN PROPHETS: the w.e.t. ep Reviewer: Charles C. Raiff Okay, now here is one of those albums that smack you in the face. I was overly impressed by The W.E.T. ep. If anyone enjoys good hip-hop, you should try it out. From good old' Sh*t talking to truly in-depth lyrics, the W.E.T. ep, and the Unknown Prophets, truly will add to any collection. Personally, I recommend Just Like You (track 7), a true journey into indy hip-hop.
HLE: behind closed doors Reviewer: K-Bank$ This is one of the tightest albums out there! The beats and lyrics are FIRE.Big E and J-Mitch are puttin' the 612(Minneapolis) on the map with the release of HLE:Behind Closed Doors.I suggest everyone should purchase this album.
MAD SON: peace amongst the madness Reviewer: jon blaze mad son and the unknown prophets are on some lyrical shit and mad son comes nasty on this cd im from cleveland and got all my friends bumpin this shit and if your not hip you need to get with it all around dope ass cd beats and rhymes pick it up good day bitchsssssssssss
 SELFISH: life story
Reviewer: Big Poppa The only down thing is he's in Minnesota. Like I said, if this cat was in New York, Cali, ATL, ANYWHERE but Minnesota - we'd see his video and him bling blingin all day. The other thing I wonder about is who's managing this cat...How come he ain't on the road bringin that bangin shit to places like where I am in Chicago! DAMN! I wish the best for this bruh!!! The cd is banging from 1-12, (I did skip one track, but damn, that's a 5 start these days ain't it!!!!)
BROTHER ALI: shadows on the sun Reviewer: Peter from Providence I love this album, another awesome RhymeSayers release. The writing is fresh and relevant. The beats are engaging and add nuance to the words. The play between the beat and the lyric is nicely crafted. This CD gets a lot of earplay at my house. At the same time, I gotta say that I find Brother Ali's occasional use of the F word (f*ggot) and his apparent misogyny hard to take. If you hate both women and gays, who's left to love? Bottom line is that I like this album a lot, and I'm looking forward to the next one, and I'm looking forward to seeing Brother Ali the next time he's in the Providence area. I'll be the fat old bald guy near the bar.
