.: --Upset The locksmith  "100% Emcee "

Upset The locksmith's father, Charles C. Lockhart II, had a hand in creating that scene in Minneapolis. Charles Sr. formed one of city's' first Rap Crews - The I.R.M (Immortal Rap Masters) Crew. He put them on his own label, "Chill Records" and did Minnesota's first full scale Hip-Hop shows in local venues that had never seen such including 1st Avenue. UPset loved and listened to the music his older brother listened to by Emcee's such as; KRS-One, Kool G. Rap, LL Cool J, Ice T, Big Daddy Kane, and Rakim.

Often hanging around IRM in and outside of the studio, he showed an interest and talent for Hip-Hop music at 5. At 5 Upset was masterfully creating and running drum patterns with his mouth, "I remember he would always win when he clicked that pattern from Doug E. Fresh in the song "The Show". UPset began rhyming two years later at age 7 and was an attentive student of the art. His brother and Brent Sayers (of Rhyme Sayers Entertainment) formed a crew called "Brigade " which merged with another called "Genesis".

He and the others in Genesis/ Brigade played the artists who are referred to as those who brought in Hip-Hop's "Renaissance" or "Rebirth", which happened in the very late 80's thru the mid to late 90's. Gage and Crew did shows for hundreds of kids around Minneapolis. It was during a few of these shows that young Set The Smith cut his teeth, grabbing the mic, battling older cats and performing on stage. Ever since he free-styled (improvisational rhyming - a true sign of a real Emcee) in front of 300 people at the age of 13 in a downtown nightclub called the Rogue, he has demonstrated over and over that he can hold any audience captive from the moment he steps to a mic, to the moment he drops it without the need of anyone adlibbing in the background. Upset is 100% EMCEE and has been perfecting his craft non-stop all his life which earns him the title" veteran" at the young age of 25.
