.: ----Real Talk from HipHopClub "Featuring Field Mob"

Who remembers when the media manifested a nation wide beef between the East coast and the West coast? During that overwhelming pinnacle in Hip-Hop history the culture limped through a downright attack on its being.

They say history repeats itself and this is one of the most simple and realistic statements in society because no one seems to take notice of it until it’s too late. Imagine you and your friends playing around with another cousin’s slang and somehow it instigates a fight within the whole family; is that not ridiculous?

Exactly, that situation almost happened to Field Mob and the Hip-Hop culture could have been stained yet again because of heavy instigation from someone trying to get a story. But luckily, the Southern fried duo set out to clear the water before the lake got muddy with “he said, she said.” The Grammy nominated group sat down for a bit to discuss the massive mishap, their direction, and touch on the new album Friday Night.

JayRich: “What happened in the now notorious video? Were you serious or were you just playing around”

FM: “Anybody that know us, we have fun. That’s what we was doing. We’re making fun of people who work with DTP; most of them are from uptown. We was just playing wit the way they talk and they it for what it was, a joke. Somebody was trying to use that to get some attention. We got love for New York, bottom line.

JayRich: “Do you sense any tension with any New York MC’s as if they don’t respect the Southern movement that’s happening right now?”

FM: “Not directly, it’s just the ones who ain’t eating that’s shitting on the South, but instead of saying, “Fuck the South,” they saying, “We gotta bring the East Coast back.” As far everybody else, it’s all love. We get a lot of love from New York. You know, guys like Dipset, (Lloyd) Banks, Mobb Deep, they fucking wit us. The Southern explosion has a lot of variety. You got your Field Mob’s, your T.I.’s, and things like “Laffy Taffy.” We just make music that people wanna hear.

Somebody just trying to make something outta nothing, because the South is that shit right now. If we would be on tape playing like we was back in the mid 90’s no one would do nothing but laugh, because New York was running thangs back then. That’s (New York) our goddamn blood, our brothers and fathers, so ain’t no dissing going on like that.”

JayRich:You guys named your new album "Light Poles and Pine Trees" where did that name come from?

FM: “In Albany Georgia where we from, we don't have a sky line when we look up all we see is light poles and pine trees. With this album we letting you know where we from.”

JayRich: “What drew you to DTP?”

FM: “We been cool with Ludacris for a minute; back when he was Chris Luva Luva. We was in a bad situation and he did us a favor, signed us to get us out that situation.”

JayRich: “Being so different from other cats, what’s your process like? What are you doing different to elevate yourselves?”

FM: “We just blessed with a gift and even though we young, we been through some thangs. We didn’t finish high school, but we ain’t no fools. We just being ourselves. Like I said, we just being ourselves. You know, we done made a lot of mistakes, blew a lot of money, fucked a lot of hoes, and had a lot of fun in the process. We made all the mistakes that a young black man can make.

JayRich: “How do you delegate what music hits the streets?”

FM: “You let honest people listen to it. You have to be careful because sorry to say there are dickriders and yes men who’ll tell you wrong. Let yo mama listen to it, yo mama ain’t never gonna tell you no lie. Give it to somebody who ain’t worried that they won’t ride in yo car again. You gotta get some constructive criticism. Take that advice and do a little survey; do you and just be sure to write all that shit that’s going on in yo life.”

JayRich: “Thanks for your time.”

FM: “No doubt, we going out showing love to our real fans, anyone who bought the albums, not bootlegs. "Light Poles and Pine Trees" coming soon and we going out for this 229 thang.”
