Publicist: “Baby Boy we got JayRich with www.hiphopclub.biz on the phone.
Baby Boy: “Jay, Jay, Jay, Jay, what it is homeboy?!?”
JayRich: It’s all good; tell the people a little about yourself…
Baby Boy: “I’m Baby Boy Da Prince; the only artist coming from the West Bank of New Orleans.”
JayRich: What’s different about that side of town?
Baby Boy: “Ain’t nothing too much different; we just separated by the Mississippi River.”
JayRich: What are you going to give the people that’s different from the usual playlist right now?
Baby Boy: “Well….None of my music going to sound the same. A lot of rappers come out with albums and the topic is the same through the whole album. They talking bout killing the whole album or they talking about dope the whole album. That’s not me.”
JayRich: Can you give me a little detail about what you have in store for us?
Baby Boy: “You got rapper’s these days that’s scared to get emotional. I talk about where my heart was at…I talk about getting my heart broke…I talk about a nigga bet not play wit me…. I talk about sex on the album.”
JayRich: Your first single caught on pretty quickly; how long has it been out because singles from new artists usually get pushed for a year or two before they hit national airwaves?
Baby Boy: “6..”
JayRich: 6 months?
Baby Boy: “6 years!
JayRich: What about the Lil Boosie feature; was he on the original or was that something new added to the record?
Baby Boy: “I remixed it with him on there. (The label) asked me if I wanted him on there and I said, ‘yeah.’ Simple as that.”
JayRich: What’s the relationship there between you and Boosie?
Baby Boy: “My folk just came with the deal and I was with it. We really ain’t got no relationship like that.”
JayRich: How do you see yourself progressing as an artist over the years?
Baby Boy: “5 years from now as an artist, I see myself in a big, big, Big position.”
JayRich: Is that in a CEO position or something of the sort?
Baby Boy: “Yeah. Something like that.”
JayRich: These days everyone who comes out has a movement do you have artists of your own waiting in the wings?
Baby Boy: “Naw, I’m just focused on myself right now. That may happen down the line, but not right now.”
JayRich: What about your sound; who do you work with?
Baby Boy: “I keeps it in-house right now and I make my own beats.”
JayRich: Guys seem to have mixed feelings about people in their home state. How do feel about Cash Money and No Limit?
Baby Boy: “I think they made a path for me. I’m on that path and walking. I respect Cash Money and No Limit. I’m climbing that mountain right now.”
JayRich: How long have you been at the music scene?
Baby Boy: “16…I got into my first deal when the guys approached me and said, ‘We think you can do this and make it.’ I dropped my first album and Bam! Things kept on and kept on and I just kept hitting them with the ‘Way I Live.”

JayRich: How does having a legit hit change shows for you rather than being just another local act?
Baby Boy: “It’s real big. I went from a couple of people to a couple of thousands.”
JayRich: What’s the underlying theme the people will see in your life story?
Baby Boy: “I really don’t talk about my past that much in my songs. I like to talk about the present and the future. I got the follow-up single called, ‘Know What I Mean?’ and I got a proposal song for the ladies and the fellas too who think they got that one.”
JayRich: The way you just described your singles….Doesn’t your releases seem a little formatted?
Baby Boy: “It is in a way, but it’s not. The proposal song is really for the niggas who feel like they got something special. I’m doing things different than the average rapper.”
