Wizdom
T-Hud also know as Troy Hudson has been working hard on a national and local level. Performing on many local shows and working with local producers/artists such as Rock City and Fiction. You may know him as number 16 on the Minnesota Timberwolves but we are going to give you insight into who T-Hud is and about his muisc. < br>
Troy has been interested in music since he was a child in Illinois. He formed his NuttyBoyz record label in 2002 and will be dropping his first major record release soon!
Could you give us some insight on who the Real Troy Hudson is, behind the scenes of the NBA and music?
First and foremost I am spiritual and give all praise and thanks to God , Very career driven. Self motivated in whatever endeavors I pursue.
What is it like going from playing ball with some of the best players in the NBA to rapping?
It’s similar because each night I step on the court I have to bring my “A” game against the best athletes in the world in the attempt to prove myself night in and night out. It’s the same in the booth because I am going up against the best in the game off the court.
Looking at other NBA players that have put out rap albums in the past, do you think that they have made it hard for other athletes such as yourself to be taken seriously in the hip hop industry?
Of course! Reason being……a lot of players don’t know how much you really have to put into the rap game to be a successful artist. Most have good intentions but don’t take the time to study that art and craft of rap.
How do you balance between Nutty Boyz ent and the Timberwolves?
God leads me in both , not much more to say there….
Are there alot of other ball players that would like to rap but just don’t take that route?
Yes , Because most of the players in the NBA today come from a Hip Hop Culture
Why do you think they won’t do it?
Mayb……e fear of the media, fear of David Stern and are intimidated by the actions taken upon Allen Iverson when he attempted to release and album in the past.
What sets you aside from the other NBA rappers?
I am in the streets in every city and hood promoting my album
Do you think people will look at you as just another “NBA Rapper” or an actual rap artist?
They may look at me that way to start but my music speaks for itself
Which would you prefer doing most, play ball or rap?
I love both ……I plan to make a smooth transition into music as my athletic career winds down.
If you couldn’t rap or play ball, what could you see yourself doing?
Not sure , haven’t had to look at it that way
How is the way you hoop similar to the way you aproach rapping?
Aggressive, focused , driven , ambitious and enthusiastic
Do you take your studio on the road with you during the NBA season?
Yes , I travel fully equipped
Tell us more about Nutty Boyz Ent?
In the process of Branding the Label, very close to major distribution for the label that is mid-west based. I have plans to release the first album “Undrafted” which is my album in the first quarter of the 2007 year
How many artist do you have on Nutty Boyz ent?
Six
Are y’all looking for new artist right now?
I always look for talent , however will not sign any new artists until distribution is in place for the label.
Give us some insight on them?
5 rap acts , 1 female act not really giving too much info on other artists because we want their music to speak for themselves and their names to be associated with their talent.
What can we expect from you and Nutty Boyz Ent in the near future?
I plan to really represent the Mid-west to the fullest and gain the status of homebase as a major Mid-west label which I feel is absent from the music industry at this time.
What do you think of the MN hip hop scene?
I think there is a huge amount of talent here but no support from those that can play the music for the world to hear. We need to start a movement.
Do you work with some of the local artist here in the twin cities?
Yes, Fiction, I have plans to work with the Street Kingz, and any other hot artists here.
Who have you worked with on a local and national level?
Most of my album is produced by a local producer “ Rock City”, nationally I have worked with Twista, Crucial Conflict, Do Or Die, David Banner, Project Pat, Juicy J. Clipse, U.G.K., Trick Daddy, Static Major, Ray J. and Freeway
Do you think it was easier for you to get into the the hip hop game being you are already known as an NBA star?
Actually , It made it 100 times harder “For Real” I want that to be known, It’s a gift and a curse all in one.
Do you think being an NBA star gives you more pull in the industry like with radio stations and venues?
Yes at times it does but usually it’s to talk about sports. That’s where the gift and the curse comes in.
How many albums do you have out?
3 Underground but none officially released
How would you define your rap style?
Universal and from the heart, I’m and artist
What do you want to say to anyone that is hatin on you?
I will say “Hudson’s Law” which is, hate equal success equals hate.
Where can people get your music, see you perform, or just get more info on you and Nutty Boyz Ent?
